Why Pete Davidson Does not Stop Joking on Ariana Grande Split (Exclusive)

Pete Davidson is doing his best to move on after breaking up with former fiance Ariana Grande.

"His friends think that he is embarrassed by the breakup and that he has to jokingly overcompensate about their relationship, because a few days before their separation, he was saying that they would never separate", said a source to ET.

However, another source tells ET that Pete Davidson is not embarrassed and that his jokes about his breakup are not unusual.

"It's obviously hurt that it did not work, but is doing its best to move on – everyone would be hurt after breaking a commitment," ET told a source close to from Davidson. "Pete joked about Ariana and him [when they were together]. So joking about the breakup and their relationship is not new. "

Davidson recently mocked his failed commitment in a promotion for Saturday Night Live which was released Thursday. Shortly after the withdrawal of the promotion, Grande contacted Twitter to publish a number of tweets deleted since, apparently silenced his ex for making the joke.

"For someone who claims to hate relevance, you'll love staying there, huh," she wrote in a tweet, adding in another, "Thanks, then."

Our second source indicates that Grande has discussed the split publicly and it is therefore fair for Davidson to do the same.

She first concealed one of her multiple tattoos dedicated to her ex-fiance during her appearance in a pre-taped performance on NBC A very nasty Halloween special musical show where she covered her ink with a bandage.
