This post contains spoilers for Marvel's Spider-Man, but only for his love life.
Some might classify the new Spider Man as an action-adventure game where you fight the villains to save New York.
But they would be wrong.
The greatest strength of Marvel's Spider-Man That's when we look at it more like a dating simulator, doing the essential work of teaching young men all over the world what it takes to become a good boyfriend for a naughty woman. .
Now, full disclosure, I definitely have a personal interest in my choice between the Peter vs Team MJ team. As an ambitious female journalist, I am familiar with the trials and tribulations of finding a partner who will not allow you to prioritize your own goals and agency as a personal insult.
But it becomes clear that the story of Insomniac Games also agrees with this perspective. That's part of what makes this game, and this Peter Parker, so special – not like the typical story of the superhero's adventure, but as one of the few games that make his powerful women.
Let a girl work, Peter

When we begin, Peter Parker suffers from an affliction that many of us, Millenials, may have with: permanent adolescence. Taken between the two, he is a little crazy – and I say it with love, because the unhappy mankind of Spider-Man is exactly what gives him a special place in our superhero-loving hearts.
But struggling to pay his rent, stuck in an underpaid internship and feeling sorry after being dumped by his girlfriend, Peter is struggling with the daunting crisis of the quarter of life.
MJ, on the other hand, is booming.
Unlike many other movies and comics by Mary Jane, the 2018 MJ Spider Man is a real three-dimensional character rather than the more usual girl bomb next door that serves as a female award for our nerd turned hero.
Instead, this GM is a promising young journalist at the Daily Bugle. Like Miles Morales, she is even a playable character during some furtive missions that she undertakes to go beyond the call (and even ethics) of journalism. .
Even before the game begins, we learn that it was unthinkable to break with the wonder of New York. They are clearly still in terms of friendship, but we do not know why she did it as Peter (and Peter is damn helpless, as always.)
Peter must learn the great responsibility that comes with a great love.
But like Peter, we learn that it has a lot to do with his own self-esteem above all else.
The emotional battle that takes place during Marvel's Spider-Man is different from the one we usually see for the beloved hero too. Peter Parker is less learning to take on the great responsibility that comes with power.
More easily, Peter must learn the great responsibility that accompanies a great love.
As an adult-sized woman with great aspirations, MJ does not have the time to train Peter through the challenging growth path of his childlike humanity, no matter how charming.
There is still hope that he will become the boyfriend worthy of his love. But he will have to go alone because a woman like MJ needs a Spider-Man, not a Spider-Boy.

The problem is that, with the best of intentions, Peter has always considered MJ as someone to protect. Having suffered the trauma of losing Uncle Ben, the urge to keep all his loved ones at all costs is more than understandable. Like the best defects of character, it comes from a place of love but causes a break in their relationship.
But from MJ's point of view, the result is a boyfriend who treats her like a Chinese doll, ready to break at any moment. In fact, MJ is an irresistible force of bravery and cunning that takes care of his own self, thank you very much.
Its stealth missions, while some of the most uninteresting moments of gameplay from a mechanical point of view, always revolve around pious narrative narratives it manages with accumulated skill. Hell, she defuses a biological bomb that explodes in Grand Central Station, while commanding Spider-Man (his ex, let's not forget) as he was the well-trained attack dog in the situation.

"I think I'll find another place to stay, she's probably busy with work."
Spidey's trip to become worthy of MJ's love is not over yet, though. He still has no good answer when he asks (repeatedly) he understands why they broke up. The lowest point for our arachnid bachelor ends with the fact that he completely missed one of MJ's stealthy missions – until Peter decides to introduce himself and "save" him.
It's at this point that Peter finally realizes, and maybe only because she ends up explaining it.
MJ had enough to be infantilized by his boyfriend. Because, treating her as a responsibility, Peter forgot to treat MJ as a person – a person who has proven himself, far more than capable, to be as great as him.

This is a testimony to Insomniac Games' narrative that, ultimately, Spider-Man and MJ's arc is different from the one we've seen a million times before. Usually, MJ represents the real responsibilities that continue to "hinder" Spidey's heroines. She is the classic ball and chain, demanding that he put his needs ahead of those in the city.
Just watch MJ Kirsten Dunst in the original trilogy of the movie Spider-Man. While she seems to understand her duty to the city in the second film, the third film seems to launch her agency on the bus to give Peter this bow. She becomes a pawn for her enemies and a victim to save her continually. On the other hand, Peter has continually failed as a partner in failing to recognize his heroics. She had to choose her own value over her love for him.
MJ is the fundamental partner Spider-Man needs to become the best possible superhero.
Until Peter understands that MJ was never part of his long list of responsibilities when he chose to answer his call as Spider-Man.
All she wanted was to allow him to answer this call by his side.
MJ, along with Yuri, Miles Morales and Jefferson Miles, continues to play an important role in the success of Spider-Man.
MJ pulls a Peter unaware of the danger after the attack that kills Jefferson Miles. MJ's investigative work constantly provides Peter with the information he needs. MJ discovers the backdrop behind the creation of Devil's Breath, and his antidote. MJ is constantly doing the uncomfortable job of telling the truth to power through his reporting, probably doing more to address the systemic issues that affect New York City than Spider-Man itself.
And Peter finally shows that he has learned the right way to go out with such a bad guy when he stops blaming him for doing this dangerous but vital job, and starts giving him tools and gadgets to her success too.
The best, Marvel's Spider-Man focuses on the heroism of the people behind the mask. Whether Miles, Jefferson, MJ or the heroism of a man who learns to win the love of a great woman.
Peter Parker becomes a hero realizing that women do not need to be saved. Yet it can be said that MJ is the greatest official because the patience to do it (and the demographic group that idolizes this kind of male infantry) has to face the facts.
