The Giants return home after their 33-31 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NS, with an unsightly record of 1-4.
According to Michael Lombardi of The Athletic, it's easy to diagnose the source of the team's problems.
It starts with broad receiver Odell Beckham, Jr., who demonstrated a me-first mentality with his interview with ESPN.
It ends with the person Beckham threw under the bus during this interview: the quarterback Eli Manning.
Per Lombardi:
The Giants have no one to blame for the interview of Odell Beckham Jr. but themselves. Before giving him all the money, they knew that Beckham was more interested in self-promotion than by an excellent teammate. Yet they met all his needs and now he was telling them the truth. Not once in his interview with ESPN, Beckham has not been held responsible, nor shared the failures of his team, and this can not be news for the Giants' front office.

No one has been harder towards the Giants quarterback, Eli Manning, than me on the various platforms where I analyze the teams. Therefore, what Beckham suggested in his interview did not shock me. Manning refuses to look at the field and loves to throw control. When we look at the giants, it's obvious (at least for me, and apparently not the giants' receipt) that they need a quarterback. The GMen have a record of 34-52 since 2013, with a defeat in the playoffs, which clearly shows that they misjudged their team, especially at quarterback. No matter how talented a team is – and the Giants have talent at the skill level – unless the quarterback can play, the skill never reaches its full potential. Sunday was the first time the Giants have scored more than 30 points in the last 36 games.
Giants explode referees
On paper, Manning did not have a horrible match against the Panthers, by PR giant:
Eli Manning completed 22 of 36 passes for a total of 326 yards and made two touchdown passes – one for Odell Beckham, Jr. and Saquon Barkley, and two interceptions for a pass score of 86.1. It was the first time Manning had played 300 yards since he had collected 434 yards against Philadelphia last year.th of her career. The Giants are 19-27 when Manning throws for at least 300 yards.
However, Manning was his worst enemy in the second half:
Manning was intercepted twice by security Mike Adams. It was the second longest sequence without being chosen by Manning.
