Shortly before the start of the regular season, the New England Patriots released wide receiver Kenny Britt. Britt had signed a two-year contract with New England before the 2017 season and the deal provided an option for the second year. The Pats opted for the option in order to keep Britt on their roster, but decided to cut it at the end of August because of a persistent injury to the hamstring.
Britt was injured in the spring and followed him throughout the offseason program and up to the training camp. Now, according to the Boston Globe, he is filing a personal injury grievance against the Pats in order to recover the $ 1.05 million salary he had to earn before he was reduced.

It is possible that Britt and the Patriotes can find a solution for Britt to receive a portion of his salary but not the total amount. Otherwise, the case would go before an independent arbitrator. Whatever the result, 40% of the $ 1.05 million Britt expected to withdraw this season will be counted in the New England accounts by the time the complaint is settled.
The saga of Britt was part of an effort that the Patriots had been undertaking since the beginning of the season to revamp their vast ballroom. As we wrote at the end of August, since the end of last season, the Patriots:

Chris Hogan was a huge disappointment and Dorsett looked like the most consistent target of Tom Brady's perimeter. The team will bring back Edelman after his suspension against the Colts this week and the numbers will allow him to work more with Gordon, but the series of weapons that Brady faces is changing for some time now, and Britt was doing this.
