The last episode of Rick Grimes The dead who walk is sadly on us. Whether Andrew Lincoln's character lives or dies, it will be a great day for TWD Fans. Even if it's sad to let Rick go, it's hard not to dream that maybe one day Andrew Lincoln will come back to The dead who walk. Technically, he's already done it, and it seems like he'd be ready to play the post-apocalyptic sheriff again, as long as it's not a full-time job.
"I have two young children," explained the actor at San Diego Comic-Con, Weekly entertainment, "and I live in a different country, and they become less and less portable as they get older, it was as simple as that, it was time for me to go home." – which seems definitive, even for a program on resuscitation – so it seems that it does not come back any time soon. A proclamation as strong as it is necessary to hold.
The good news is that Lincoln will come back in the series and is already on the set in Atlanta since the end of his last episode – but as Walking Dead director of an upcoming episode of season 10, according to Weekly entertainment, not an actor.
"I'm going back," Lincoln said in an interview with Weekly entertainment. "I'm going back to the shadow of a director and my intention is to lead him next year."
This should, at the very least, reassure fans that the star did not leave the show because he was disappointed by the story, the actors or the fans. His departure was personal to him. the public should not take it for something personal. "I can not be so far because I can not stand it," continued Lincoln EW. "That's how I invested in the series and in the rest of the story."
If Lincoln ever came back as Rick, he would not be the first Walking Dead actor to return after their character left the series. Sonequa Martin-Green, Scott Wilson and Jon Bernthal are back in season 9. Characters like Morgan have returned to the series after long absences, and characters such as Lori and Glenn have appeared in flashbacks or visions since their departure. Rick can always come if circumstances permit.
It also does not seem likely that Rick will join Fear the undead to be with Morgan, or something like that, either. The spin-off does not run closer to home for Lincoln. AMC is expected to give a green light to a subsidiary of the UK-based zombie franchise, and explain how Old Man Rick had crossed the pond for Lincoln to become a regular member of the cast again. Basically, leaving the original series means leaving the franchise, at least for now.
Still, Rick Grimes is a central part of The dead who walk that there will always be more of his story to tell in a certain capacity. The Sunday episode is perhaps the last, but Lincoln is still very involved in the series and who knows? After time has passed, he may come back – strange things have happened.
