It's been eight months since the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers announced their spring training, and all of that led to that.

The 2018 World Series will begin Tuesday at Fenway Park, featuring two of the biggest franchises in the Major League Baseball. Boston had a playoff run, eliminating the 100 wins of the Yankees in the ALDS before needing only five games to knock down the defending champion, Astros, in the ALCS.

Los Angeles had to play a 163rd match to secure the title of NL West before beating the Braves in the NLDS. The Dodgers survived the Brewers in a grueling NLCS of seven games to return to the World Series for the second year in a row.

The Dodgers are looking for their first title since 1988, while the Red Sox have won three victories since 2004, the last in 2013.

Bob Nightengale: This is the world series sought by the people of Park Avenue and the TV studios. It's not New York vs LA, but it's the next best brand match. The Red Sox are clearly the best team since they won the most MLB games and have gone through the playoffs of the American League. He may not be the NCAA champion against the NIT champion, but the gap is huge between the two leagues and he will be featured in the World Series. Red Sox in 6.

Ted Berg: IIt's never a good bet to bet against a team of 108 wins, especially after the way the Red Sox dismantled Astros in the ALCS. But the Dodgers have always been a better club than their regular season record had suggested, and their heavy field pack is better suited to Boston than it has been to the Brewers. Alex Cora is not ready to get to his paddock after a hitter. Dave Roberts can therefore play his right-handers against Chris Sale and David Price without worrying that one guy from Josh Hader comes up to reverse the script for three rounds. Clayton Kershaw seems ready for a huge series after a good start to the match in the fifth game of the NLCS series, and the Dodgers just seem to be due. Dodgers in 6.

Scott Boeck: Boston beat the New York Yankees to 100 wins and the Houston Astros to 103 wins en route to their first appearance in the World Series since 2014. It will continue behind a powerful offensive that includes MVP MVP candidate JD Martinez and Jackie. Bradley Jr. lead the charge. Red Sox in 5.

Steve Gardner: After a grueling NLCS of seven games, do the Dodgers still have something to fight against the powerful juggernaut of the Red Sox (108 wins)? Boston is the most powerful offensive of the season and will have the luxury of playing up to four home games with the designated hitter. When entering the playoffs, the most blatant weakness in the Red Sox's lineup was his pen leading to Craig Kimbrel. However, the power trio composed of Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier and Joe Kelly allied for an ERA of 0.96 (2 ER in 18 ⅔ IP) in the playoffs. The team that has been the best of the season does not always prevail in series. The Red Sox will ensure that this is the case this year. Red Sox in 5.

Gabe Lacques: Forcing J.D. Martinez out on the pitch may be offsetting the Red Sox's greatest strength – outfield defense – in three games at Dodger Stadium. But the accuracy with which the Red Sox dismantled the Astros indicates that their season of 108 wins – now 115 and count – was far from a mirage. They are the best baseball team. Red Sox in 6

Heather Tucker: It seems late in the game to change my original World Series selection – the Red Sox. And it is not worth it. Look for Boston to reach 119 wins behind his deep lineup and a reinvigorated Craig Kimbrel – who has been playing with fire since the start of the season. The Red Sox say he was rocking his pitch, so the closest to the World Series should be OG Kimbrel, which is bad news for the Dodgers. Red Sox in 6.

Jesse Yomtov: Boston has silenced the enemies (there are many) so far in the playoffs and reaches its peak at the right time. The AL champions beat .370 with runners in scoring position during the playoffs, compared to the modest .190 mark of the Dodgers. This timely strike will be the key to this series. Red Sox in 5.
