1. Alabama
Is it a surprise that Alabama became the first team to win the cup in 2018? The tide beat Arkansas 65-31 at Fayetteville on Saturday to improve its score to 6-0 behind 334 yards and four touchdowns by Tua Tagovailoa in just 10 out of 13 shots. The tide attack, averaging 56 points per game, was virtually unstoppable. It would be foolish to call one of the teams other than Alabama as a favorite to win the college football game.
2. Georgia
Another week, another dazzling victory for Georgia. The Bulldogs dominated Vanderbilt Saturday night in Athens, totaling 560 yards in a 41-13 victory. While the Bulldogs have excelled with Jake Fromm and a strong team of half-offensives, the defense has been one of the best in the country. In six games, the Bulldogs are averaging 283 yards per game. It is fair to say that Georgia has not been challenged at this point of the year, but four ranked opponents – LSU, Florida, Kentucky and Auburn – are at the rendezvous.
3. Our Lady
Our Lady went through the most difficult part of her program without much resistance. The Irish took care of Michigan in the first week and had some mediocre performances before going from quarterback Brandon Wimbush to Ian Book. This made a significant difference. In the three games since – winners of Wake Forest, Stanford and Virginia Tech – the Irish offensive averaged 46.3 points per game, while Wimbush had 23.3 points. Our Lady must be favored in all future games. The road leading to the playoffs of college football is without a hitch.

4. State of Ohio
Ohio State survived the discomfort of its post-Penn State match this year. The Buckeyes fell behind Indiana 17-14 in the second quarter, but the deficit did not last long with a 49-26 win. Dwayne Haskins had 455 yards and six touchdowns in the win, which turned out to be an improvement over JT Barrett. Now, 6-0, the Buckeyes point win over Penn State is probably the biggest win of the season in college football. The way to the playoffs is clear, provided that OSU and his stealth defense manage to cross their rival Michigan in the season finale.
5. Clemson
Clemson finally gathered everything on Saturday. The Tigers have been disappointing over the past five weeks, but Trevor Lawrence is now a solid starter. The defense has always been the strength of the team, but now the Tigers seem to have found a match to run to match. Travis Etienne was the key to the 27-23 win over Syracuse last week. On Saturday, in the 63-3 victory over Wake Forest, Etienne had 167 yards and three touchdowns in just ten races. The Tigers, as a whole, had a total of 471 ridiculous rushing yards. It will do the trick.
6. West Virginia
West Virginia started 5-0 for the third time in the Dana Holgorsen era, but Holgorsen probably does not feel well about the last six quarterbacks played by his team. The Mountaineers, in their toughest test of the season, took a 35-10 lead over Texas Tech # 25 at half-time, but were outscored 24-7 in the second half for a win possible 42-34. On Saturday, WVU beat modest Kansas, but its margin was only 38-22. Mountaineers have flipped it four times, including interceptions of red zones by Heisman's candidate, quarterback William Grier. Mountaineers have a few weeks to prove themselves before the November schedule, including a trip to Texas and a visit to Oklahoma.
7. Central Florida
UCF took the same path where it stopped during the transition from Scott Frost to Josh Heupel. Now 5-0, the Knights have an average margin of victory of 31.2 points per game. So far, UCF is the class of the Five, but, from the point of view of the college football playoffs, the same argument as that of last year will surface: the strength of the calendar. The UCF played against UConn, South Carolina, Florida, Atlantic, Pittsburgh and SMU. His match against North Carolina was canceled because of Hurricane Florence. Still, the Knights seemed ready to re-enter the AAC game – including their undefeated compatriots USF and Cincinnati – again. We'll see if they can sniff out the PCP this time around.
8. Colorado
Nobody would have predicted that Colorado would be the last unbeaten team of the Pac-12. The Buffs had to finish down the South Division, but are now 5-0 thanks to a win over the Arizona State Saturday. Steven Montez was impressive at quarterback, as was Virginia Tech's Travon McMillian in the running. But the undisputed star of Colorado is the great receiver Laviska Shenault. Against ASU, he made the team's four touchdowns and now has 51 catches for 708 yards and six catches during the year.

9. State NC
NC State lost a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, but with NFL prospect Ryan Finley at quarterback, the Wolfpack kept pace with Clemson at ACC Atlantic. Finley made two choices in Saturday's win against Boston College, but has a lead of 1,621 yards and 10 touchdowns with 69.5% throws. Finley and his deep receiver group (led by Kelvin Harmon and Jakobi Meyers) will keep the Wolfpack in games throughout the season. A trip to Clemson looms in two weeks. The Wolfpack has a goodbye next weekend.
10. South Florida
Blake Barnett has been a great quarterback coach for Charlie Strong. The prolific Quinton flowers would never have been easy to replace, but Barnett (once in Alabama and the Arizona State) had 1,308 yards and nine touchdowns for the Bulls 5-0. Although the offense has flourished, the defense remains a concern. The Bulls gave up 42 points and 486 offensive yards in a 16-point victory over UMass on Saturday. This defense must be strengthened before the most difficult part of the calendar arrives at the end of October.
11. Cincinnati
Cincinnati is the third and last unbeaten team in the AAC East Division. The Bearcats are also the most surprising team on this list. In the year two of the Luke Fickell era, no one expects this big jump. There have been tight calls on the way to eligibility for the bowl, too. The Bearcats inflicted on Chip Kelly his first UCLA loss with a 26-17 decision in Week 1. In Week 4, Cincy overcame a 24-7 deficit at half-time and finally beat the Ohio 34-30 with a touchdown at 3:24. Undertaker Michael Warren stood out with four games of 100 yards.
