CHIPPEWA FALLS, WIS. – A 10-year-old Wisconsin girl was brought to the handcuffed court Monday morning and charged with first-degree willful homicide after the death of a 6-month-old boy.
Accompanied by her parents, the girl sobbed during a 10-minute hearing in front of the Chippewa County Court of Appeal, where Judge James Isaacson sentenced her to a 50-day bond. 000 dollars.

According to Newell, the police responded to an emergency call on the afternoon of October 30th. A 6-month-old boy in a licensed daycare in the rural town of Wheaton, just west of Chippewa Falls, was found numb and bleeding his head. The baby was taken to a local hospital and taken to Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul, where he died on November 1.
Police interviewed an adult and three children at the daycare. They quickly chose the girl as the main suspect, said Chippewa County Sheriff James Kowalczyk.
According to Kowalczyk, the girl said that she was holding the baby when she dropped the baby, who hit him on the head on a footstool. When the baby cried, she panicked and stomped on the child's head, said the sheriff. A local doctor who examined the baby determined that the injuries were not accidental, he added.
Although the girl's biological parents went to court, the authorities indicated that she had been removed from their homes in September and placed in a foster home with the same family as the one who runs also the daycare where the baby died. The reason why the girl was placed in the foster home has not been revealed.
"It's not a good morning for Chippewa County," Kowalczyk said, citing the infant's death and the ongoing investigation into the deaths of three scouts and one of their mothers , who were hit and killed Saturday by a truck near Chippewa.
