THE GRADES ARE IN …
ANN ARBOR – Michigan responded to the critics.
Needing a win and a win against a ranked team, the Wolverines completed both Saturdays in front of a national audience on prime time television. Michigan scored more than 440 rushing yards, rushed for the 320-yard record, and defended the country's goalscorer, Jonathan Taylor, in a 38-13 victory. on Wisconsin.
With this win, Michigan improves to 6-1, 4-0 in the Big Ten and ranks sixth in the AP Top 25 poll.
The team got good production on both sides of the ball, from many different contributors, bringing together one of the best and most complete of the season.
MLive's Aaron McMann is back with his weekly position notes after the win.

STRATEGIST
Another productive and productive day for Shea Patterson, who completed 14 of 21 passes for 124 yards and had no setbacks. But in reality, the story of this match is that of his legs, who scored nine races for 90 yards, including a career high of 81 points in the first quarter, when things collapsed. He added a 7-yard touchdown in the third quarter, his first of the season, to give Michigan a 21-7 lead. He had ample time to work in the pocket, but it also led him to keep the balloon too long in some cases. He has been fired three times, none of which is the fault of his offensive line, and we must insist that we get rid of football earlier. But there were no turnarounds and he managed the offense well. Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton (hey, Joe Milton) also saw a few slaps, while McCaffrey scored a 44-yard touchdown. Category B

RACE DOS
Chris Evans was back, but his presence was minimal. Karan Higdon had to handle a lot of the races, a job that is never too heavy for the captain and co-captain of the fifth year. He ran 19 times for 105 yards and a touchdown in the first half, averaging 5.5 yards per run assisted by a 94-yard second half, and outstripped his counterpart Jonathan Taylor on the other side. . His false traction on Patterson's 81-meter run was beautifully executed. Evans finished with 5 runs for 18 yards and is still trying to get back into gear, said head coach Jim Harbaugh. Tru Wilson added six runs for 26 yards, while real freshman Christian Turner had three for 8 yards. Take out 154 yards on three-quarters of Michigan and the Wolverines have again eclipsed Wisconsin in the rushing yards. Grade: B +

RECIPIENTS
It was the biggest battle of the night for Michigan. While Shea Patterson had plenty of time to throw the ball, he did not have many open receivers to work with. The Wisconsin secondary player played against Michigan effectively, removing the long ball and limiting the games at close range. Nico Collins led the way with four catches for 31 yards, while Donovan Peoples-Jones added three catches for 30 yards. Striker Nick Eubanks made the longest catch of the day, 28 yards in the second quarter. Oliver Martin and Zach Gentry both grabbed a pass, while Grant Perry was out. A fight here throughout the match, although Patterson is doing well with his legs and Michigan has figured it out on the ground. Grade: C-
OFFENSIVE LINE
This could have been the most impressive match of the season for the group, both statistically and visually. As I wrote above, Patterson's three bags could be too useful for him. Michigan struggled to run uniformly in the first half, but adjusted at half-time and introduced themselves as a new team in the second half. Karan Higdon (19 shots, 105 yards) found holes, quarterback Dylan McCaffrey had time and found a 44-yard path leading to the end zone. Time was never a problem for the quarterback on Saturday as Michigan set a record 320 yards in the season. This is the type of release you want to see from a group as untested so far. Grade: A
