A spokeswoman for a seaside town in Maryland reports that a woman was accidentally impaled in the chest by an umbrella.
Ocean City spokeswoman Jessica Waters said it had arrived Sunday afternoon on the beach.
Captain of the Ocean City Beach Patrol, Butch Arbin, said the call had arrived at 3:11 pm, according to WBOC and WMDT.
He said that the unattended rental umbrella pierced the 46-year-old Pennsylvania woman. chest at the top left. It happened on the beach at 54th Street.
Waters says that a Maryland state police helicopter took the woman to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center. The wounds of the woman were not life-threatening.
