OCALA, Fla. – The Ocala Police Department said that a woman had died after being shot by a man during a domestic dispute at Walmart on East Silver Springs Boulevard. The man has escaped the scene and remains on the run.

According to Ocala Starbanner, a woman who was shot during what appears to be a family conflict Saturday afternoon at Walmart, in the east of Ocala, has passed away.

Shortly before 3:00 pm, the woman was taken to an ambulance outside the store at 4980 E. Silver Springs Blvd., then taken to a hospital. The Ocala Police Department confirmed that the woman had died.

According to the Ocala police, the shooter and the victim knew each other. They were fighting near Walmart's garden section on Saturday afternoon when the woman screamed for help. An employee intervened and called 911, and that is when the shots were fired.

Colleen Wade told Ocala Starbanner that she had been shopping in the store, walking toward the garden, when she heard a thud. Wade said that she had come down an alley and had seen a man standing near a woman and shooting him several shots.

After the shots were fired, the man calmly walked out of the store. When Wade came out, she saw the gunman go on a bike. Wade described the shooter as a bald black man who wore brown shorts and an orange vest.

Ocala police have not yet revealed the name of the victim or suspect, but said that no one had been injured during the shooting.
