David Price pitched seven solid innings, allowing only one point on three hits while the Red Sox defeated the Dodgers, 5-1, to grab their ninth World Series title. Steve Pearce scored two goals for the Red Sox. Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez also go to court to cement the 4-1 series.

high: Kershaw remained in the game and gave a solo circuit to J.D. Martinez to open the inning. Xander Bogaerts then chose the left. Brock Holt forced Bogaerts into the field. Holt came first. Rafael Devers chose the middle to put the runners on first and second with a withdrawal. Christian Vazquez hit hard and Price was forced to end the inning.

Low: After Kershaw ran aground, J.D. Martinez misinterpreted David Freese's high fly ball, which flew over his head and rolled onto the right-field warning lane. Freese reached third place. Justin Turner then failed. Martinez grabbed a ball from Kike Hernandez to end the run and block Freese's players.
high: Kershaw pulled the team in order: David Price swayed, Mookie Betts flew to the center and Andrew Benintendi failed.
Round 2: Red Sox 2, Dodgers 1
Low: Max Muncy swayed. Yasiel Puig's high ball dropped for a shot in the shallow center left to put a runner first. Chris Taylor then went out and Austin Barnes hit to end the inning.

high: After Mookie Betts ran aground, Andrew Benintendi reached the base on a single in the center. Steve Pearce was the first on the first pitch he saw Clayton Kershaw lead to Benintendi and scored two points on the board. J.D. Martinez was unsuccessful and Xander Bogaerts hit to end the inning.

Alex Cora explains red Sox pitching situation before match five
Red Sox manager Alex Cora dropped a surprise after the fourth World Series game on Saturday night, saying he had changed the rotation and David Price would start the fifth game on Sunday night instead of Chris Sale.
When Cora met the Red Sox, defeated the writers on Sunday afternoon, he then explained his decision.

Alex Cora raised some eyebrows and fueled speculation about Chris Sale's health when he announced after Game 4 that David Price, taking his departure for a short rest, would get the ball and the opportunity to close the series but the manager insisted that Price "And not just a first game.
"He's done it before," said Cora. "He is well placed, not only mentally, but physically. We think that he can do it. "
The other reason Price has moved is that he would be available to relieve the eventual Games 6 and 7, where it would be more difficult for Sale, who bounced back from a stomach problem.
"You know, he has an injury and then a belly button infection," Cora joked. "It was difficult for his belly button to bounce and go into the gaming grounds of Games 6 and 7. That's the reason behind all this. It's not that we're trying to reinvent that. We are just getting ready.
"If it was a tie, we left with our starters in complete rest."
