The Russian Ministry of Defense has released shocking videos showing a range of nuclear missile exercises, including a submarine performing an atomic attack simulation.
These videos are the latest in a series of growing war games ordered by President Vladimir Putin, who plays the role of Supreme Commander of the Russian Armed Forces.
The icing images show the crew of a Russian submarine following the steps to trigger a retaliatory strike with an atomic bomb.
We see a commander of the North Fleet giving orders to his crew, with a submariner confirming: "Yes sir, a rocket launch."
The missiles are seen firing off Arctic waters in the seas of Barents and Okhotsk.
According to officials, the exercises were "designed for retaliation against an enemy attack".
The terrifying images did not include the new Russian class of Yasen submarines, which can strike any European capital.

NATO reacted by intensifying its own tactics of fighting submarine warfare.
Admiral James Foggo, head of US naval forces in Europe and Africa, said: "The Kalibr-class cruise missile, for example, was launched from coastal defense systems, aircraft long-range and submarine off the Syrian coast.
"They have shown their ability to reach virtually all the capitals of Europe from all the surrounding water plans."

On this week's military exercises, a A spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense said: "On the orders of President Putin, Supreme Commander of the Russian Armed Forces, strategic nuclear force exercises have been organized.
"All the tasks of the exercise have been completed.
"All targets designated in Kura Chizha, Pemboy and Terekta test areas were destroyed."
