WWE News, Rumors: Daniel Bryan Officially Leaves Crown Card in Saudi Arabia

[ad_1]

Add another WWE superstar to the list of candidates who will not travel to Saudi Arabia for the Crown Jewel event this Friday. As reported by several outlets over the past few days, Daniel Bryan is officially excluded from the Crown's Crown Card where he was facing AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. This news comes after confirmation Monday night at Raw that John Cena was retired from the World Cup tournament and will not join the crew as well. In recent weeks, there have been rumors that the two former world champions have refused to travel to Saudi Arabia because of growing political tensions, and it turns out that this was indeed the case.

Bryan's case is a little more interesting than Cena's, as it appears that the company has been trying to retain its title match between WWE and Styles as part of the event. According to PW Insider, one of the options was to film the championship game Bryan vs.. Styles at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and broadcast it Friday at Crown Jewel on the WWE Network.

Instead, Bryan and Styles clashed on Tuesday night at SmackDown, Styles retaining the title via submission. Samoa Joe attacked the two men immediately after the match, hosting a Styles vs Joe match for the WWE Title at Crown Jewel on Friday.

More WWE news, rumors

  • A photo floated around with Shayna Baszler after crutches on Sunday, suggesting that she could be seriously injured in her victory at the NXT Women's Championship on Kairi Sane. Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Information Bulletin [subscription required and recommended] reports, however, that the injury is not considered serious and that Baszler should not miss an hour of ringing.
  • Evolution on Sunday did not have the appearance of a production run by Vince McMahon, so some assumed that NXT's sponsor, Triple H, was directing the series. Well, that was not the case at all. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, it was McMahon who led the women's historic event since the position of the gorillas on Sunday in the Nassau Coliseum.
