Rusev sought to continue his wins against Xavier Woods, Jeff Hardy launched a US Open Championship Championship and Daniel Bryan faced Harper in an action-packed episode of SmackDown on Tuesday night.
As the extreme rules approached, fans of the blue brand had a taste of the quarrels that will dominate the US network, leading to the pay-per-view event of July 15th.

The Miz was visibly terrified by his guests, the champions of the SmackDown team, The Bludgeon Brothers, while Miz TV began the episode.
He tried to jostle them, siding with Daniel Bryan, whom Harper and Rowan brutally assaulted and cost a shot at the WWE championship a week ago.
As the intimidating duo got closer to the Hollywood A-Lister, Bryan's music played and he demanded a match against one of them tonight.
Harper accepted the challenge and promised that the bearded wonder would learn a lesson later tonight.

Analysis
This promo segment did not do anything. At all.
That is, with the exception of the announcement of the main event tonight between Bryan and Harper.
Again, a WWE program falls into the familiar formula and tired of using a promo segment to announce a match rather than just announcing the damn thing right out.
About the only good thing to get out of this Miz job and Miz's spectacular expressions while dealing with the awesome team sharing the ring with him.

A week after cashing his ticket for Extreme Rules and a showdown with AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, Rusev fought a familiar enemy in Xavier Woods to kick off the ring party of the show.
Rusev dominated the first half of the match, using his strength and new momentum to eliminate his smallest opponent. He worked a back chinlock during the advertisement, no doubt in the hope of keeping his opponent faster and more agile.
In a dominant position, Rusev was playing with Woods, kicking him, almost challenging him to get up. When the host of UpUpDownDown Claimant # 1 has finally cut it.
Woods delivered a jawbreaker, unloaded with kicks at the tree trunk legs of Rusev and followed with some chops. A large forearm running ran over the crowd and ejected Rusev from his feet. He lifted Rusev into a fire bag, but Rusev moved away. He tried a Machka Kick, but Woods responded with one of his own.
A good exchange that showed the speed of the competitors gave way to this much touted Machka Kick and led to the Accolade as Rusev continued his victories. After the match, he cut a short promo on Styles.

Analysis
Two of the most underrated superstars on the WWE list fought here, and they did not disappoint. NXT's exports delivered an athletic and fast match that kept the fans on their feet.
Woods impressed while the underdog was fighting underneath, but it was Rusev's fury and aggression that stood out.
He watched every motivated monster that he was at the beginning of his career with WWE, and that bodes well for fans hoping he's making the most of his opportunity for the WWE Championship.
A great way to set the tone for the rest of the games on this show.

The news of Shinsuke Nakamura's injury forced a change in the plans of US champion Jeff Hardy on Tuesday night. Not content to sit down, he launched a challenge open to anyone in the locker room at SmackDown.
Eric Young from Sanity responded, just a week after arriving on the blue mark.
A failed attempt by Hardy's Twist of Fate was followed by a quick Swanton Bomb attempt, but Young came out of the arena and landed on the floor of the arena while the show was going break.
Back from the break, Hardy was in shock, caught in the hand of his unstable and unpredictable opponent. Young caught the champion in a dragon sleeper and pulled him from the top rope mat, essentially hanging it for a brief moment while announcer Corey Graves asked for it. it was about winning or mutilating Hardy.
Young continued to work the neck of his opponent, creating a doubt in the minds of the team of commentators that Hardy could overturn and retain his title.
Hardy ended up fighting a sleeper and delivered a jawbreaker. A running forearm, an atomic drop and a double leg drop in the middle of the medal continued to spark his return. A Twist of Fate led to a double point of clothesline that left the two men on their backs.
The crowd woke up as the Usos appeared at the ring and fought with Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe. Young jumped out of the ring and started fighting against Jey Uso before a six-man fight broke out. The babyfaces cleared the ring towards the break.

Analysis
After a rough and hasty match start, this turned out to be a solid fight.
Young was legitimized in the eyes of those who did not know his job through getting this match as much as him. He dominated Hardy and only seemed to be in danger late.
After the end and involvement of The Usos, this writer feels a team match of six players.

And, after arriving at the US championship, Hardy and The Usos clashed to fight Sanity at the insistence of General Manager Paige.
The massive Killian Dain controlled the match for the heels, using his size and strength to dominate Jey Uso. The popular babyface almost made much needed etiquette to his brother, but Dain cut him off and drove his opponent to the corner while Young took over.
Uso finally created the separation, pushing Young out of the ring. Before he could tag in Hardy, Young desperately grabbed Hardy's foot, pulling him off the apron and preventing the label from what Graves called "a great awareness of the situation".
Jimmy Uso finally received the etiquette and exploded in the match. He dropped Alexander Wolfe with a Samoan Drop.
Moments later, after the action broke down, Hardy delivered a Swanton bomb to mark the victory.

Analysis
Byron Saxton suggested that Sanity's defeat here only temporarily thwarted his quest to bring anarchy to SmackDown. It was very much like a seed planted by Vince McMahon backstage, which aims to prevent any complaints or concerns about Young, Dain and Wolfe's future.
That said, it's interesting that they would lose this match so close to their first appearance.
It makes sense that management does not want to lose Hardy when he is perceived as one of the biggest stars of the show and the current US champion, but the beat, a Superstar at bulletproof, would have meant a lot to Sanity as he tries to overtake with a new audience.

Becky Lynch's buyout tour continued Tuesday night as she battled Sonya Deville, accompanied by Mandy Rose, in a match set up earlier in the day at an exclusive video of WWE.com.
Lynch frustrated Deville early and continued to do so by entering the break, throwing the experienced competitor over the table and challenging her to return to the ring.
Deville dominated the contest, bouncing back after his tough start. A late collision with Rose led Lynch to apply the Dis-Arm-Her for the tapout victory.

Analysis
There was not a ton to the match, hence the note slightly above average.
That said, Deville continues to improve every game and will be a star if and when WWE puts his machine behind it.
Lynch, however, continues to win games after a disappointment last year and finally seems to be on the road to a push. Undoubtedly the most underrated female competitor, she certainly deserved it thanks to her performances.

A boos concert greeted James Ellsworth as he headed for the ring.
The unbearable villain played the misogynist character until Paige made his way to the ring.
She announced Carmella against Asuka for Extreme Rules, but Ellsworth cut her off. The honed heel said that Paige was only there to ask him for an appointment, to which the authority figure confirmed.
Not a date with her, though. Instead, it would be a match with Asuka.

Analysis
Ellsworth playing some of the male supremacy stuff that he did during his inter-actor work on the independent stage was, perhaps, a clue to the things to come from his character. Paige announcing that he will fight Asuka next week seems to confirm it.
It was good here, but it really could have been done behind the scenes in a short vignette rather than in a full promo.

Daniel Bryan and Luke Harper have spent their careers before WWE in buildings around the world, but they did it on Tuesday night in the spotlight and on the big stage of SmackDown Live, the last chapter of the rivalry fledgling Bryan with the champions. The Bludgeon brothers.
Bryan spent the game trying to fight from underneath, his body ravaged the pain of his bigger, more angry and stronger opponent.
Whenever he had to defend himself, Harper cut him off.
A big tornado of DDT allowed Bryan to find a separation, and to apply his Yes Lock. Before Harper could dismiss him, Rowan hit the ring, leading to disqualification.
The Bludgeon brothers destroyed Bryan, beat him up and left him in heaps. Before they could perform a double-team move that would bench the popular babyface, Kane's music played, and The Big Red Monster made his way to the ring.
He found himself face to face with the champions and then discharged on them. The champions defended themselves, but a double Bryan dropkick allowed Kane to recover and deliver a chokeslam.
Kane and Bryan exchanged glances as the crowd animated, eager to take root for the duo formerly known as the Hell team. Kane opened his arms for a hug, but a confused Bryan shook his head. He finally kissed Kane to a huge ovation.
A "YES!" The song followed, just as Paige announced that Team Hell No would challenge The Bludgeon Brothers at Extreme Rules.

Analysis
What a momentous moment to end this show.
Rarely the WWE surprises its fans, but Kane returns and reformulates Team Hell No was a big surprise.
Where it leaves Bryan's aspirations simple, it's a mystery, but as he's getting back under his feet after three years on the sidelines, there's worse use of him than in a team where you ask him not to do as much work.
The match between Harper and Bryan was good for what it was but we will not remember tonight after the explosive conclusion of this show.
