Elon Musk's Boring Company exists to create giant tunnels under the ground through which traffic platforms carry your vehicle at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour. That's the theory, anyway. There are tunnel projects in Los Angeles, Washington, DC and Chicago, which means that a lot of boring machines are needed.
The last boring machine that Musk has supported has an extra feature: the ability to control it using an Xbox pad. Proof of this has been provided by The Boring Company over the weekend, as you can see in the video below:
The upgrade" ad was made via Twitter with the tweet simply by reading, "Best video game ever." You have to wonder why this was done, or is it just a matter of why not?
The Xbox controller includes several types of control methods, including buttons, triggers, and keys. Could this combination work really well for the different parts of the boring machine? The video suggests that's the case.
It is also very easy and inexpensive to buy new control blocks, suggesting that The Boring Company realized that it could save money by adopting the Microsoft controller. And finally, teaching someone to control a machine using an Xbox pad will be easier than using a bespoke set of controls. There is a good chance that new recruits have already used the pad.
Be that as it may, The Boring Company and Elon Musk have once again been able to attract the attention of the media and reminded everyone that underground tunnels are in progress.
