MIAMI – Surveillance cameras captured the ambush of rapper XXXTentacion while he was preparing to leave a Deerfield Beach motor sports dealership last June. CBS Miami reports that the cameras show a stuck vehicle at the exit of the rapper around 15:55 on June 18.
While XXXTentacion stops his car, two men jump out of the vehicle – one with a kind of assault rifle – and confront the artist while a person from the rapper's car fled. The investigators say that the men threatened and stole the XXXTentacion, because the video shows the men in a sort of struggle with him.
On the video, while one of the men is pointing a large pistol into the driver's side window, another man enters the XXXTentacion car. Then gunshots rang out and the men fled with a bag from the rapper's car.
This is the end of the surveillance video. But earlier, the cameras recorded the rapper's arrival for the last moments of his life.
At 3:30 pm on June 18th, XXXtentacion arrived at the dealership. As he and a friend entered, XXX had a bag in his left hand. A minute later, a surveillance video showed that the suspect's car was coming in and that two of the suspects were entering the store. They passed by the XXXententance who looked at them briefly before continuing his conversation with a store employee.
A surveillance video shows that the suspects walked to the back of the store and took their cell phones. Less than 30 minutes later, as XXXTentacion left the store and left, he would be shot.
A total of the killing of four men – Michael Boatwright, Trayvon Newsome, Dedrick Williams and Robert Allen.
Allen appeared in court this week to demand a reduction in his bond. His lawyer, Jim Lewis, said that Allen never left the vehicle to take part in the robbery.
"He was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people," said Lewis. "The position of my client has always been that he did not know it would be a robbery, he did not participate in it, he did not share any of the fruits."
Prosecutors and investigators blame Allen for playing a role in the murder, whether it's related to the rental car or communicating with people outside the store before murder. In the end, a judge rejected Allen's claim to reduce his commitment.
Each of the suspects in this case is charged with premeditated murder and each of them is locked up at the Broward County Main Prison.
