XXXTentacion Wins Best New Artist Award at BET Hip-Hop Awards

Although XXXTentacion passed away earlier this summer, it is clear that we are going to talk about his brief but influential career for a while. The BET Hip-Hop Awards honored the controversial rapper with the Best New Artist Award, according to people who attended the Miami Awards Ceremony this weekend.

A video from inside the Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater shows that X's mother, Cleopatra Bernard, accepts the award on behalf of her son. She was accompanied by X's director, Solomon Sounds, and his lawyer, Bob Celestin, who shared a video of the moment on his Instagram account. The rapper "Moonlight" beat Rich The Kid, Juice WRLD, Lil Baby and Drake co-signed Blocboy JB for this honor.

The price was not the only time X's presence was felt in the room. According to DJ Scheme, Vic Mensa tried the rapper fire in the cyphers.

"Yo bro how did you go tell 'your favorite rapper is an abuser' and then follow him with a line saying 'shit X shit so that I do not live long' you can deny it but everyone who was there heard that "he wrote on Twitter.

Given the presence of X's family (and Scheme's close proximity to X), it's easy to see how he could feel that putting a punch in the place of the late rapper was too much. Mensa did not respond to the tweets.

Viewers can watch Mensa's award ceremony and offensive replicas during the BET Hip-Hop Awards on October 16 at 8pm. AND.
