The Yankees announced Monday that they had entrusted Ronald Torreyes with his role to make room in the lineup of 40 right-handed players Parker Bridwell, whom they claimed thanks to the Angels' waivers.
Bridwell, 27, had a strong 2017 season in Los Angeles, but had a tough year last season. He made only one start for the Angels, when he allowed six points in a third of a heat on April 6th. He showed promise in 2017, while Bridwell played 21 games with the Angels – 20 starts – and finished with a points average at 3.64.
Torreyes only played 41 games last season with the Yankees. The infielder with light strikes, but sure of everything, was one of the Yankees' main substitutes in 2017, when he totaled 0.689m / s in 336 appearances on the plate. He spent all year 2016 and 2017 in the majors.
Bridwell believes that the Yankees must be given another option, either in the corrector or in the depth of rotation. James Paxton, Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka and CC Sabathia have locked spots and General Manager Brian Cashman wants to acquire another high-end launcher, but the Yankees could use more weapons in the organization as potential replacements .
