Yasiel Puig caught fire, and his series of hot shots could not come at a better time for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The often erratic outfielder has played five games in the past two games to help Los Angeles win two consecutive critical games against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Puig also introduced a new celebration.
Each of his three Saturday home races was sealed with a kiss. After the first, Puig kissed coach Turner Ward on the cheek. After the second circuit, Ward returned the favor. After the third, well, take a look.
Puig credited Ward to help become a little more consistent at the plate. Right now he's just locked up.
Puig's home defeat kicked off with a pair of solo home runs to support rookie Walker Buehler in Friday's 3-0 win.
Saturday, he actually exceeded that performance by beating another solo shot in the fourth.
Before breaking the game, we escaped with a shot of three points in the sixth.
It was not everything. In the eighth, Puig added a three-run shot.
These five massive home runs in less than 24 hours for a batter who had his share of ups and downs, and an attack that required an increase in production.
Moving dodgers
With the 17-4 win Saturday in St. Louis, the Dodgers are now tied with the Colorado Rockies for first place in the NL West.
They also beat St. Louis in the Wild Card rankings. Obviously, the Dodgers would much prefer that the division lead to themselves, but they at least have the guarantee of exclusive possession of the second Wild Card NL before Sunday.
Speaking of which, Los Angeles will go to St. Louis on Sunday night against the return of right-handed cardinals Adam Wainwright.
