Puig did not start for the second consecutive game because of his struggles against the southpaw throwing. The Rockies had left Tyler Anderson on the mound.
Instead, Puig appeared as a pinch in the seventh for Brian Dozier and crushed a 0-1 offer from the right-handed Scott Oberg (7-1) with two on board. It was his 22nd of the season.
