Yemen accuses Houthis of trying to "sabotage" peace talks, accusing US envoy

GENEVA (Reuters) – Yemen's foreign minister on Saturday accused the Houthi movement of "trying to sabotage the negotiations" that ended without their presence in Geneva and said the US envoy had not been firm enough with them.

The Yemeni Houthi movement did not participate in the peace talks, but US special envoy Martin Griffiths said it was not a "fundamental stalemate" and would soon meet with their representatives in Sanaa and Muscat, Oman.

"We want the United States to be firmer in bringing the other side to the negotiations," Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yamani told a press conference after three days of talks with Griffiths on confidence-building measures.
