For the first time in five years, the Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl Cowboys Pro Bowl right-back is inactive and is treating a left-knee sprained MCL.

Martin, from Indianapolis, will compete in the road game against the Colts in his first missed game at any level, including high school and his university career at Notre Dame.

He will be replaced in the starting lineup by Connor Williams.

Martin sustained a knee injury last Sunday against the Eagles, and the doctors determined that he did not need to be operated on, but he needed rest to return later that season. Martin wanted to try to play, especially since the game was set in his hometown, but the Cowboys said they were trying to take a clever approach.

Martin played every game of his career at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, as well as at Notre Dame and during his first four years with the Cowboys.
