Attorney General Zephyr Teachout on Wednesday made a request for support to rapper Cardi B.
Professor Teachout, who chairs the New York Democratic primary on Thursday, congratulated Cardi a few minutes after Nicki Minaj, rival of singer "Bodak Yellow", backed the opponent of Tish James, Teachout's teacher.
"I was amazed by the dance and performance of @iamcardib while I was seven months pregnant at Coachella" Teachout wrote about the rapper born in the Bronx.
"Pregnancy is not a handicap. Maternity should not be an obstacle to success.
Nicki Minaj, who is in full competition with Cardi B, has been supporting James less than two hours earlier.
"New Yorkers and all NYCHA residents have time to get JUSTICE, VOTE Thur. September 13 for Governor Cuomo, Lieutenant Governor Hochul and Tish James, "writes Minaj.
"They know how to work so that people make NY even bigger. Spread the word. Go to the polls.
It was not clear Wednesday night if rappers would support the remaining candidates, Sean Patrick Maloney and Leecia Eve.
