USA Softball is aiming for gold Tuesday morning against Japan at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The Americans posted a perfect 5-0 record in the group game and will face the Japanese in the first softball gold medal game since 2008. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 am ET at Yokohama Stadium – streamed via fuboTV (try for free).
The US team beat Japan in the group stage on Kelsey Stewart’s solo home run in the seventh inning. Home playing Japan are chasing their second straight softball gold medal. The country beat the United States team in the gold medal match at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Softball hadn’t returned to the Olympics until this year. USA Softball has won one in two gold medals (1996, 2000, 2004) since the sport’s introduction at the 1996 Olympics.
