The new Mac mini with M1 chip has been around for quite some time and although the machine impresses with its amazing performance, it also poses problems for some users. Specifically, users are complaining about Bluetooth connectivity issues with the new M1 Mac mini.
YouTuber Patrick Tomasso is one of those users who struggle to use Bluetooth accessories with the new Mac mini. As he describes in a video on his channel, using a Bluetooth mouse on his M1 Mac mini is almost impossible because the connection gets lost all the time.
According to Tomasso, he’s already tried using Mac mini with a Logitech MX Master 3 and Magic Mouse 2, but “all of them intermittently shut off” during use. He also encountered bluetooth connection issues while pairing AirPods Pro and other wireless accessories to his Mac.
There are also other users with similar complaints in Reddit. Based on one of the shared reports, the M1 Mac mini does not recognize the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard at all, rendering the machine unusable.
I am using the Logitech Mx keypad and MX Master 3 mouse. On very first boot it would not recognize the keyboard or mouse as available to pair via bluetooth. I used a wired keyboard and mouse to complete the setup. After that I was able to pair the two and they work great. However, every time I restart the machine, I cannot connect because the keyboard and mouse are not connected.
The reasons for these connectivity issues are unknown as it could be a software bug or a hardware malfunction. Apple has yet to recognize the problem and unfortunately there is no known workaround for this other than using a third-party Bluetooth receiver.
