Users complain that Samsung wearable devices overheat, beeping when exposed to direct sunlight

Anecdotal reports from users of Samsung’s Wireless Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Buds +, and the new Galaxy Buds Live indicate that the earbuds all have a history of heating up and beeping when exposed to direct sunlight. The beep should be taken as a warning that the device is overheating and occurs when the outside temperature is between 90 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

On Reddit, a Galaxy Buds user said, “Well I bought the new Galaxy Buds and have been using them ever since. Every time I use them after a while (about an hour of direct use) , they started to heat up and has anyone else experienced it? And do you know if this is normal for headphones like them or not? ”Another consumer wrote the following on the Galaxy community forum about their Galaxy Buds +: “The problem is, you can’t use them in direct sunlight. If I use them on a cloudy day or out of direct light direct sunlight, they work fine with no problem. However, if I use them on a sunny day and the sun is shining on one of the buds, it will start beeping every 5-10 seconds until you (sic) point it away from the sun, which effectively makes them useless. experimented with this by pointing every bud at the sun in my ear and only the bud in full sun starts to beep. If I block the sun, they don’t ‘do not beep. Other bluetooth headsets do not beep when under the same conditions. I suspect that Samsung will deny any knowledge of this problem as it usually does, but I am convinced it is the root cause of the problem that many p people report. “
The beep surely catches the attention of those who wear the wireless headphones, and once the headphones cool down, the beeping stops. If you live in a market where the temperature is always very high, the constant beep will be a major problem that will prevent you from using the attachment properly.
Samsung has yet to release a statement and when it does, we’ll update this story. For now, you might want to wait to hear what the manufacturer says before purchasing any of Sammy’s wireless in-ear headphones.
