TOOELE COUNTY, Utah – Utah activist John Sullivan was taken into custody in Provo on Friday, more than a week after sharing a video of himself inside the U.S. Capitol as protesters breached Security.

Sullivan, 26, has been charged with riot and criminal mischief for his participation in the deadly riots.

The arrest document says Sullivan can be seen inside the Capitol building using a microphone as he told the crowd ‘we’re about to burn this shit’, ‘we have to get Trump out of his office … f_______ get him out of this shit. … we are not waiting for the next election … we are about to go get this m__________. “

In a video posted to social media last week, Sullivan said he bumped into the Capitol building with the others to document what was going on.

“I was there to record,” Sullivan said in a video posted Friday on Periscope. “I was there to let people see this situation in the best possible way.”

Sullivan is the founder of Insurgence USA, an activist group formed after the murder of George Floyd in the summer of 2020. He says he voluntarily spoke to the FBI in Washington, DC on January 7.

In the social media video, Sullivan added that his videos proved the riots were made up of Trump supporters, not anti-fa members.

In June, Sullivan was arrested for organizing a demonstration in Provo where one person was shot dead.
