Utah Jazz continues to roll against Miami Heat with 7th straight win

The Utah Jazz entered tonight’s game on an all-out fire. They once again brought the heat tonight and beat last year’s Eastern Conference champions the Miami Heat, beating them for their 7th straight win. That’s 18 wins in 17 games for those who count at home. Let’s revisit some thoughts, highlights, and comments from the game.

The game started very slowly for Jazz. It was the first time in some time that it felt like an opposing defense was generating saves against the high power attack. The switches weren’t creating any open planes or mismatches and the Jazz only had 2 points in the first 5 minutes or so. It got a little worse before it got better, but Bojan Bogdanovic had seen enough and forced a time out in Miami with the game at 13-8. All three balls just didn’t fall in the 1st, shooting 1-12 in the quarter. That meant a 21-18 deficit after one. Consider how badly they played, it could have been a lot worse.

The second quarter was your typical back-and-forth between 2 good teams. Bogdanovic has shown his offensive versatility this quarter. He can score at all levels and in different ways. He is more than just a sniper. Side note: I would really like Royce O’Neale to learn not to travel with his dummy pump and to drive from the 3 point line.

It was definitely a top level 2 defense match. Neither team has really found an offensive pace and it has been a relatively weak deal so far. The Jazz took a 47-42 lead in the half.

Donovan swayed out in the 2nd half. A very quick 7-0 run on its own gave Miami a time-out just a minute and a half after the start of the 2nd half. Jazz took a 12 point lead with this explosion and he felt like they would control him for the rest of the time. Goodness! Play a 16-0 Jazz run to start the 2nd half. Quin Snyder is a brain. The Heat were well prepared to take Jazz out of their game. But of course, at halftime, the Jazz countered and their offense clicked anyway.

It was a very close game and all of a sudden the Jazz are up 21. The Jazz’s defense is at championship level. They just stifled the heat in this 3rd quarter.

The game was essentially decided even before the start of the 4th quarter. The 4th was basically just a formality at this point. The Jazz maintained their lead and ran this train.

Choo choo!
