Valheim’s studio Iron Gate shared a cryptic preview image of the game’s first big update, titled Hearth and Home.
Celebrating the landmark sales figures of 6 million units sold, Iron Gate released an update from Steam on the development of Hearth and Home. The studio did not give details on the update’s release, but said it was able to gradually move resources from bug fixes and play tests into development on Hearth and Home.
“Many of you have contacted and asked about the roadmap. How is ‘Hearth and Home’ going? We mainly focus on game testing and bug fixing, but as things calm down since launch, we can spend more time working on our first big update! ”reads a section of the developer update.
So while we don’t know when it’s coming, it looks like the update’s development is picking up steam. To hold us back until its release, the developers revealed a small Hearth and Home teaser image that you can check out and expand on below:
As for what’s included in the Valheim Hearth and Home update, Iron Gate has confirmed that, as you might expect, the new content largely focuses on house building and customization. In a recent interview with our friends at PC Gamer, Iron Gate co-founder Henrik Tornqvist said Hearth and Home will include “more building parts and things to do in and around the house.”
If you enjoy making food in Valheim more than building houses, it looks like there are things hidden for you in the upcoming patch as well. “He’s probably going to be pretty focused on the food preparation aspect of the game with more recipes and stuff like that,” Tornqvist continued.
