A new patch is now available for the Nordic multiplayer game Valheim, which continues to be a huge success. Among a handful of minor changes, this makes a big change for Dedicated Servers and also changes the balance of the game so that Wolves are less excited.
Starting with Dedicated Servers, this new update ensures that Dedicated Servers now always use direct connections instead of using the Steam Datagram Relay (SDR) system.
“This should result in much lower latency for most gamers,” developer Iron Gate said. “I really hope this patch fixes a lot of the connection issues that were introduced in last week’s patches (due to the backend socket change),” the studio said.
Elsewhere, the March 2 update for Valheim contains a change that makes wolves less likely to mate. Patch notes state that the update “slightly reduced wolf procreation.” The developers apparently thought there was something wrong with wolves making smaller cubs than they should, so Wolves are a little less excited now, to borrow a phrase from PCGamer.
Valheim’s patch notes also mention some location updates, while enemy Bonemass’s vomit effect shouldn’t work properly, thank goodness. You can see the full patch notes below, as posted by Iron Gate on Steam.
Valheim has sold over 4 million copies and reached over 500,000 concurrent players on Steam, making it one of the most popular games across the platform. In response to the huge success, developer Iron Gate is expanding its studio to five people.
