Valve’s second Steam Next Fest begins October 1

Valve didn’t wait long to host their second Steam Next Fest. The edge reports that the games extravaganza (formerly the Steam Game Festival) is now scheduled to take place October 1-7. You’ll see a range of games coming up, including live streams and chats, but the highlight may be the demos. Notably, IGN say you will try No Man’s Sky the Steam version from creator Hello Games of The last campfire.

Other game demos will include those from Ludomotion Unexplored 2, The Artistocrats Starship Troopers – Terran Command and Andrew Shouldice’s action adventure Tunic.

Steam Next Fest, like Summer Game Fest and other virtual events, is a substitute for real-world game conferences and exhibits that cannot take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This gives independent creators the ability to promote and refine games that might otherwise gain little attention compared to blockbuster titles. It also helps Valve, of course – you might be more likely to buy these games and see Steam as a go-to source for independent releases.
