During the trip, Natalia sprained her finger and wrist during the trip, which Vanessa joked as a “reward” for making fun of her father.

“It’s a reward for making fun of daddy’s fingers. I was expecting this [Gary Vitti] pulling the finger so I tried to distract her, ”she wrote on Instagram at the time, referring to one of Kobe’s past injuries, and Vitti, the former Los Angeles athletic coach Lakers: “Fortunately, it wasn’t necessary.

Ahead of the first anniversary of Kobe and Gianna’s deaths, Vanessa recently opened up about her grieving experience – and shared a few encouraging words for those who might be going through similar emotions.

“Grieving is a messy cluster of emotions,” she wrote in her Instagram Stories Friday. “One day you are in the moment to laugh and the next day you don’t want to be alive. I mean this for people who are dealing with heartbreaking grief and loss. Find your reason for living. I know it is difficult.

Vanessa said then that it is her children who help her to come to terms with her sanity: “I look at my daughters and I try to convey this feeling to them.

“Death is guaranteed but living the rest of the day is not,” she concluded. “Find your reason.”
