The match started slowly, with neither team shooting much in the first five minutes of the game. Arizona scored the first goal on a goal from defender Ilya Lyubushkin. Max Pacioretty, an excited player, immediately brought Vegas back into the game with a spectacular shot in front of Coyotes goaltender Adin Hill. Arizona took the lead but Pacioretty scored his second goal of the first period for a 2-2 draw after 20 minutes of action.
Pacioretty continued to shine when he found Cody Eakin well fed in the Arizona net. Vegas took the 2-2 advantage early in the second period.
The match continued to be Max Pacioretty's show, as he recovered a rebound and slipped it past Hill for a pre-season hat trick. Vegas took a 4-2 lead after two periods.
The last period was marked by a magnificent goal from veteran Reilly Smith. As usual, Smith created a turn-over on which he jumped and scored during a breakaway. Brayden McNabb added an empty net and the Golden Knights won their first pre-season victory in the 2019-2020 season 6-2. Veterans Pacioretty, Eakin, Smith and McNabb scored all goals for VGK. Malcolm Subban stopped 26 saves for the win.
The Golden Knights are back on the ice Tuesday in Denver for their second pre-season game. The game starts at 6 o'clock. (Jason's recap)

That's what we want to see from Cody Glass. Coghlan and Pacioretty clean it for the hat. Super tips of two young people.

Classic Subban. Nightmare early, then installs and begins to play well. And we all know how good it will be if it happens in a shootout.
