A professional sports team’s relationship with a sales department didn’t last as long as a late-night drunken marriage breakdown at the Lucky Little Wedding Chapel.

On Saturday, about 72 hours after their announcement, the Vegas Golden Knights severed their relationship with UpickTrade, a Mexico-based website that sells games of chance.

“The Vegas Golden Knights have terminated their sponsorship agreement with UpickTrade,” the club said in a statement. “The organization will not have further comments on the matter at this time.”

When the deal was announced, the team said the sponsorship made them “the Knights’ official sports selection service partner,” which caught the entire industry off guard.

The Action Network contacted a Vegas Golden Knights official who declined to comment publicly. The NHL too, which should have approved the sponsorship category, but did not answer questions about the mystery.

What’s most shocking about the partnership is that if a team knows the land of touts, they should be a Vegas-based team.

Would the service ever choose against the knights? What happens when the Selection Service tells everyone to bet the Knights and they lose? No one knows the answers to these questions because it’s mom after the half-baked deal that could only happen in the NHL.
