This Friday the government announced an increase in the rates of gasoline, oil and kerosene as part of an agreement adjustment measures signed in February with the IMF.
The measure involved a 38% increase in gasoline, 47% in diesel and 51% in kerosene.
Before the news, several Haitians went out to demonstrate against the streets of Port-au-Prince and the trade unions and social organizations called for a general strike on July 9 and 10 to reject the rise in prices
Reports indicate the security forces cracked down on the barricades set up by the protesters and protesters. local media reported at least three deaths during the day of demonstrations.
