There are nearly 3,000 different emojis.
Emoji have become a new and universal language for expressing all kinds of emotions without the use of words.
You can send a heart, a thumb in the air or a sad face … and your receiver will interpret right now
But not all emojis have such an obvious meaning or are very often used.
There are about 3,000 different drawings – 2.8 23 to be exact, according to Unicode, that does not seem so big in a world with more than 2 billion cell phones.

Tracking emojis
The creator of Emoji Tracker, a website that analyzes what is published daily on Twitter and gets emoji accounts, is Matthew Rothenberg.
The system has recorded 23,000 million tweets since that was created in July 2013.
The most popular, according to his records, is the "face to tears of joy" (l & # Emoji "who cries with laughter"). It was published more than 2,000 million times since then.

The "face with tears of joy" is the most used emoji on all platforms.
"I was curious about how people used different emojis," Rothenberg told the BBC.
"The observation of the varied cultural use of different emojis can sometimes reveal interesting and unexpected things," he adds.

"This is an example of the variety in the cultural use of technologies, and a reminder that things can seem a mystery because of language barriers. ", says Rothenberg.
