The administrative service of identification, migration and immigration (Saime) assesses the extension of the validity of passports to ten years and the five-year, according to the director of the entity, Gustavo Vizcaíno, this Tuesday, November 27.

"There are people who do not like the extension because it only lasts two years.Through the studies we are conducting, one of the predictions is to increase expiry of the passport to ten years and the extension to five years, "he announced during the program Al Aire transmits Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

He explained that after the amendment, the system would continue to function in the same way as before: the new passports would be valid for 10 years, while those already issued could opt for the extension.

He said that they had found nearly 400,000 passports in the coffers and more than 300,000 identity cards because people were not coming to remove the document.
