Andrés Velásquez, leader of Causa R, on Thursday proposed a general strike to ignore the swearing-in of Nicolás Maduro, President of the Republic, on 10 January.
"The national strike will go against the regime.From 10 January, the mandate of Maduro will end to become a usurper of power," Velásquez said during a press conference .
He stressed that the initiative would be implemented with the approval of the National Assembly. He therefore asked Parliament to join the demonstration. "From the R cause, we mean that since January 10, we have entered a situation of ignorance of the regime," added the leader.
The event will be structured with a council that will be composed of workers, trade unionists and political leaders for the restoration of the country's constitutional order.
