Cervelli will surely arouse the interest of other teams. The 32-year-old hit 0.270 / 0.38 / 0.34 in four seasons with the Pirates, demonstrating an unusual out-of-the-ordinary ability in a catcher. After an adjustment in his momentum, he scored 12 homers last year, leaving 0.809 OPS in 104 games. Its rate of retired runners has increased to 39% and pitchers have often praised it for its work.

If they change to Cervelli, the Pirates could entrust him with the job of also regulating the Venezuelan Elias Diaz. Aged 28, he looks set to be the first receiver after beating .286 / .339 / .452 with 10 home runs in 82 games last season. He has a strong arm and his way of calling games has improved. The hackers also have a second ready – made receiver, Jacob Stallings, who has no more options to send to minors.
