Brazil's Health Ministry said Wednesday that the country had 677 confirmed cases of measles, all from two outbreaks that reached the states of Roraima and Amazonas, Venezuela.
Until July 17, they were confirmed 444 cases of measles in the Amazon and 216 in Roraima and "all are related to the importation", according to the Health Portfolio.
"This has been proven by the genotype of the virus (D8) that has been identified, which is the same as circulating in Venezuela," the ministry said in a report posted on its website.
Since February, when measles cases began to appear, three deaths have been recorded: two in Roraima and one in the Amazon. ministry data, which indicated that 2,689 cases are still under investigation.
This portfolio also indicated that there are some isolated cases identified in the states of Sao Paulo (1), Rio Grande do Sul (8), Ron donia (1) and Rio de Janeiro (7), but all related to the virus that came from Venezuela.

Brazil advances preventive measures and blockade of the disease throughout the country through vaccination to interrupt the transmission of outbreaks and prevent the establishment of a transmission supported, according to the ministry.
"To be considered a sustained transmission, the same epidemic should occur for more than 12 months," said the Institution.
