On Wednesday, the Brazilian Ministry of Health warned that it had confirmed 677 cases of measles which they said were caused by two outbreaks from Venezuela to the states of Roraima and Amazonas.
Of the 677 cases, there are 444 in the Amazon and 216 in Roraima for July 17 and according to estimates of the institution "all are related to the import".
"This has been proven by the genotype of the virus (D8) that has been identified, which is the same as that circulating in Venezuela," the ministry said in a report posted on its website.

Similarly, 2,689 cases remain under investigation. The ministry also identified some isolates identified in the states of Sao Paulo (1), Rio Grande do Sul (8), Rondonia (1) and Rio de Janeiro (7).
According to the entity, Brazil is advancing preventive measures and blockade of the disease throughout the country through vaccination to interrupt the transmission of outbreaks and prevent the establishment of sustained transmission, a reported EFE.
"To be considered a sustained transmission, the same epidemic should occur more than 12 months," said the ministry.
