The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 will be the processor that will give life to Android devices next year, and recently it's gone by GeekBench offering data on its power. It is expected that the chip will be announced during the same month of December, confirming to the world its official name, since Qualcomm will not change the name of its processors.

As reported by PCMag, the successor to the Snapdragon 845 processor will not be called 8150, it's only a code name. Until now, the future chip of the company has been indicated as SM8150but it's just an internal identification name and it does not match the name with which it will be launched on the market.

What is certain is that it would not be the first time that Qualcomm changes its name to its line of processorswhich previously consisted of S1, S2, S3 and S4 and in 2013, the series was changed to 200, 400, 600, 700 and 800. For now, the official name of the new processor is unknown, but it is more likely that it continues with the current numbering. it could be called Snapdragon 855.

The new processor could start a new series with a 5

Rumors also claim that society could launch a brand new sequence of names and start a new series with 5, since it will be the first chip with integrated 5G modem (X50) and maybe he'll end up calling Snapdragon 5000. A change that could also occur due to the unusual configuration of three central clusters, a feature recently appeared in some leaks.

Qualcomm will announce its new processor, which will be part of the first 5G phones, next weekat a three-day annual event on December 4th. What will be communicated at this time is the real name of the processor and its characteristics, leaving behind the code name of Snapdragon 8150.

For now, we have to wait until the company officially announces the name of its expected processor to know all its features and its official name, but it is clear that Qualcomm will continue or start a new series of names, but will not change them.
