Commands to find a tweet even if it's old

[ad_1]

The other day, a friend asked me how I found old tweets. To my surprise, this usual Twitter user went to a third-party application to search for messages, but the application in question has limited his search to the last 300 tweets of each account. Here is what I replied.

Twitter has an advanced search engine that allows you to perform very specific searches by adjusting variables such as the language in which the message is written, the place where it was sent or when it was published. However, it is much more convenient to memorize a series of operators that allow you to perform advanced searches at any time, from the normal Twitter search application.

Once you've learned these operators, it's easy to understand how people find old tweets of politicians and celebrities to highlight them:

  • "": "happy hour" returns all tweets that contain the exact phrase "happy hour" ", Throw others as" right now I am happy "
  • OR : love OR hate shows all tweets that contain the word "love", the word "hate" or both words at the same time
  • -: beer-root show all tweets that contain the word "beer", but not the word "root".
  • #: #haiku has all the content tweets tagged with the hashtag #haiku.
  • : [19659013] alexiskold shows all the tweets of the user alexiskold.
  • to: to: techcrunch displays all the answers addressed to the user of techcrunch.
  • @: ] @mashable shows all the tweets that mention mashable, including all tweets posted by mashable
  • near: "happy hour" by: "san francisco" [19659005] displays all tweets that contain the exact phrase "happy hour" and were published near the city of San Francisco
  • in: near: NYC in: 15mi shows all Tweets sent no more than 15 miles from New York City.
  • since: since: 2010-12-27 shows all the tweets that contain the word "superhero" and have been published since December 27, 2010 (the date it is set in the order year, month, day).
  • to: ftw until: 2010-12-27 mute all tweets that contain the acronym "ftw" and were published before December 27, 2010.
  • filter: funny filter: videos shows all the tweets containing the word "funny" and have been published with a video.

And the most interesting is that all these operators can be combined. Thus, from: GizmodoES since: 2017-12-31 until: 2018-1-1 returns all the tweets of Gizmodo in Spanish between New Year and New Year. You can now find No matter what tweet, no matter what age. Except, of course, it has been deleted or is in a private account that you do not follow.
