The researchers, led by Ulrich Laufs, studied 266 healthy inactive youths and randomly divided them into four groups for six months: endurance training, with high intensity intervals, resistance and lifestyle without change, as a control group.
After analyzing the white blood cells of these people at the beginning of the study and two to seven days after the last exercises, "the volunteers who trained against the high-intensity resistance increased the telomerase activity and the length telomeres ", while" the resistance training did not exert these effects, "said Laufs.
