HIV patients who are insured for the Government Health Plan will have access to three new drugs after the Secretary of Health, Rafael Rodríguez Mercado, today signed an agreement with the director of Health Insurance Administration (ASES)Ángela Ávila.
As part of the agreement, beneficiaries of the reform who are HIV patients and those who are part of the Ryan White program will have access to the following medications in their health coverage: Trogarzo, Biktarvy and Juluca.
The signing of this agreement took place just days before the celebration of World AIDS Awareness Day, which takes place every year on 1 December.

The 5K against AIDS, which is being held for the first time this year, will take place at Luis Muñoz Rivera Park at 7:00. There will also be a health fair during the day.
In addition to a fashion show, as part of an alliance with the San Juan Moda organization, the event will also feature a theater play from the Circle Circle theater of the year. As of October 31, 314 cases of HIV / AIDS had been identified in Puerto Rico in 2018, for a total of 49,315 cases since the Ministry of Health began recording these diagnoses 34 years ago.
Most diagnoses, male and female, occur between the ages of 25 and 34, the main mode of transmission of the drug intravenously, followed by sexual contact between men and heterosexual contact.
Statistics from the health department reveal that at least two people are diagnosed with HIV every day, but one in six do not ignore it.
