As part of Twitter's harsh crackdown on abusive behavior on its network, the company announced a new policy that confronts those who harass, threaten or misrepresent during Periscope's live broadcasts.
Twitter announced It will begin to apply its rules more aggressively: it will examine and suspend the accounts of users who break the rules several times, reports TechCrunch.
The plans were announced by a publication in the Periscope blog and a tweet saying that everyone should feel safe watching live video.
Currently, the comment moderation policy in Periscope involves group moderation. That is, when a viewer declares a comment as "abusive", "spam" or selects "another reason", the Periscope software randomly selects a few other users to analyze it and decide if the comment is really inappropriate or it's junk email
Only if the majority of randomly selected voters agree that the comment is spam or abusive, the commentator is suspended.
However, the suspension would only disable their ability to comment during a single live broadcast, but that would not prevent them from doing so in others.
Twitter says accounts that are repeatedly suspended for violating their guidelines will soon be reviewed and suspended permanently. This control policy will take effect from August 10 and is one of many changes focused on user safety that the company performs in Periscope and in the social network.
