LONDON (Reuters) – The OPEC announced Wednesday that it was expecting global demand for crude oil to decline in 2019, as consumption growth slowed and rival exporters' production increased, suggesting that a surplus would again be apparent despite the measures taken by the cartel to reduce the supply.
In its monthly report, OPEC indicated that the world would need 32.18 million barrels per day (bpd) of oil from its 15 members next year, a decrease of 760 000 bpj compared to 2018 in its first projections for 2019.
The cartel said that in June its oil output rose to 32.33 million bpd, above forecasts.
