Luis Enrique Martínez García will be the new coach of the Spanish national football team and will occupy this position in replacement of Fernando Hierro, who served in this role as interim.
The appointment was formalized on Monday by the Board of Directors of the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF), the new coach will begin operations immediately.
The Spanish federation accepted the nomination of Luis Enrique unanimously, arguing that Martinez did not accept this work for economic reasons but because of the passion and desire to form this selection with sentimental ambitions.

Despite the adverse reactions that the appointment of Luis Enrique has sparked by some Real Madrid players, the Spanish council is committed to the good will and the professionalism of Martínez
Similarly, the board of directors approves and categorizes this decision, based on the modernity of Luis Enrique as a coach, as well as on his personality on the ground .
The new coach has indicated his intention to work freely and "without ties" as he begins a new stage for La Roja in consideration of his own sports project.
