Syrian media denounce Israeli air strike

" One of our military positions in Massyaf suffered an Israeli air strike ," reported the official Sana news agency, citing a military source that only refers to material damage.

Israel recently launched several air strikes against positions of the Syrian regime and its Iranian ally.

A spokesman for the Israeli army refused to comment because his country rarely confirms his military incursions into neighboring Syria.

"The site attacked this Sunday is a workshop supervised by the Iranians, where short-range ground-to-air missiles are made," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), which has an extensive network of sources in Syria.

"Iranian forces and the Lebanese movement of Hezbollah are in this sector," the director of the OSDH, Rami Abdel Rahman

told AFP. Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah, two enemies of Israel, are the main allies of the Syrian regime with Russia.

Israel has repeatedly reiterated its refusal to see Syria become an Iranian bridgehead.

The Massyaf region also houses an antenna of the Syrian Center for Research and Scientific Studies (SSRC), already attacked in September 2017 by the Israeli army.

This group is accused by the United States of helping to produce sarin gas and make chemical weapons, but the Syrian power denies resorting to this type of arsenal.

In mid-July, an Israeli attack on a military site in Aleppo province (north) caused at least nine deaths among pro-regime militants, including three foreigners, according to the report. # 39; OSDH.

Sunday's attack comes as Israel comes to ensure the evacuation to Jordan of hundreds of white helmets, volunteer rescuers working in the rebel areas of Syria, who have apparently been trapped in the south of the country in the midst of a regime offensive.
